| May 21, 2002 - Thanks to our dedicated dealers and our avid collectors, Friday we proudly donated $600,000 to the 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund. During the presentation in Washington, D.C., Jean Andre Rougeot, Boyds' CEO, presented a mock check to George Burke, Assistant to the General President of the International Association of Fire Fighters. Mr. Burke accepted the money on behalf of those who lost their lives during the September 11th tragedy. The money will go directly to the families of the 347 fallen firefighters and EMS personnel in New York City.
The exuberant response from our dealers and collectors is what made this project a resounding success. We raised $150,000 of our $600,000 from the sale of Teddy B. Bear, our October 13th special event mohair bear. Boyds donated $1.00 for every Teddy sold that day. The remaining $450,000 came from the sale of two very special Limited Edition pieces created as a tribute to those brave rescue workers who faced overwhelming odds with tremendous courage and determination in the wake of the attacks. The American Hero …Strength, Dedication, and Courage Bearstone and Crumpleton sold out in just 10 days, raising $450,000. And, that brings our grand total to $600,000.
Thanks again to all of our wonderful collectors and dealers for helping make things a little bit easier for those that lost loved ones in the attack on America.

First, on September 14, we sent 3,000 bears to the New York City Police Department and on the 17th, we sent an additional 3,800 to the Salvation Army. The bears will be used in the various centers around the city aimed at helping the families of the victims.
Secondly, Boyds will contribute $1.00 for every Teddy B. Ber sold at our October 13th Special Event. That money will be sent to the New York Firefighter's 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund.
Thirdly, Boyds Product Development team is in the process of developing a unique resin piece to be released early next year. All profits for the sale of this Bearstone will also be contributed to the New York Firefughter's 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund.
