Boyds Helps the Starlight Children's Foundation® Keep Kids Connected to School, Friends and Family!
June 3, 2002- On Thursday, May 30th, Boyds presented a PC Pal to the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. A PC Pal is a revolutionary mobile computer unit that provides an array of activities ranging from interactive games and email access to homework help. It's an incredible resource that helps alleviate some of the monotony of a child's hospital stay. Some of Starlight's Board Members, Hospital Staff, and Boyds Public Relations Manager were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Children's National Medical Center is one of the first hospitals in the country to receive a PC Pal and Boyds was able to provide that for them. An overwhelming number of requests for computers from hospital staffs, coupled with the success of Starlight Fun Centers, led to the development of the PC Pal program. So far, 50 units have been placed in hospitals and major pediatric centers in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Houston, Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, and Minneapolis.
It's thanks to all of our dealers, collectors, and the Folks at Boyds that we are able to help thousands of seriously ill children around the country through our partnership with The Starlight Children's Foundation®.
